kena

Kena Hodges (Nicole) began acting when she got away with that little white lie she told when she was five years old. Although she's lived in Maryland 23 years, Kena Hodges will say she is a native and reigns from Chicago, Illinois. From talent shows, school plays, pageants, and even an all-girl band, Kena has always been quite the little entertainer. She knew then that she had a future in acting and decided at the tender age of 6 to put her talent to good use. She immediately became the child that was called to dance or tell a story at family gatherings. Bored with being exploited for her talent, she turned her focus to school plays such as A Midsummer Nights Dream, Waiting To Exhale, Steel Magnolias and Grease. She quickly became aware there were few roles for a young, black actress so she began playing sports (basketball, track and volleyball). As Kena transitioned to college, she was reminded that DRAMA was not a real major and focused her basketball career. Kena continued her basketball career professionally and most recently semi-professionally. Kena has also graced the fashion runways of NY, MD, DC, VA, and FL for various fashions shows to include NY Fashion Week. As one of the DMV’s most sought after runway models, her modeling resume includes Black Opal, Outré, and KAS Collection Inc., not to mention her modeling work with various athletes, such as Allen Iverson and Gilbert Arenas. Kena is new to the screen, but she’s already won her first award. Kena is a winner of the 2010 We Love Soaps Best Group Ensemble award and as been interviewed by We Love Soaps, DCTV’s The Scoop, and The Sighlent Storm on 96.3 HD radio, a show focused on ending Domestic Violence for her work on Anacostia the Series.
